Curtin celebrates 20 years in Malaysia

Make tomorrow better.

The agreement in 1998 by Curtin University to work in partnership with the State Government of Sarawak to develop the University’s first overseas branch campus in Miri was received with acclaim in both Malaysia and Australia.

As we have evolved from ‘Curtin University of Technology, Sarawak Campus’ (as we were initially known) and subsequently into ‘Curtin University, Sarawak Malaysia’ and now ‘Curtin University Malaysia’ over 20 years, our remit to provide quality education and an enriching learning experience to students from within Malaysia and beyond has not changed.

Our innovative spirit and commitment to educate minds and enrich lives has seen us lead in many areas, including embracing new technologies, introducing new ways of learning, and conducting research that impact local communities. It has seen us expand our presence, both locally and internationally. And it has forged our reputation for producing work-ready graduates.

Twenty years on, we proudly celebrate Curtin’s continued presence in Malaysia, the many significant milestones and achievements we have attained, and the promise of greater days to come.

In this twentieth year, Curtin has committed to a further 20 years of partnership in Malaysia, acknowledging its two decades of strong partnerships, innovation and educational excellence. It also signals further enhancement of Curtin Malaysia’s intellectual footprint and learning experiences for students, building of productive research collaboration, and providing developmental opportunities for staff and students, for a long time to come.

As we mark this important milestone, we invite you to explore where we have been and the exciting new directions we are heading!

Our 20th Anniversary is cause for much celebration. Join us in our year-long
celebration of significant achievements and milestones and promising days to come.

Anniversary greetings from Pro Vice-Chancellor, President and Chief Executive
